BIODEGRADABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT

Ensuring the quality of incoming organic waste is essential to producing high quality compost. Our controlled waste acceptance process ensures that only suitable biodegradable materials enter the composting system.

ORGANIC COMPOST FORMULA

  1. 01

    Urban Landscape

Green spaces generate suitable organic materials.

  2. 02

    Landscape Waste

Accepted green waste is collected and prepared.

  3. 03

    Organic Fertilizer Manufacturing

    Controlled composting transforms the material.

  4. 04

    Organic Compost

Mature compost becomes a valuable soil resource.

THE COMPOSTING PROCESS

Production System

Green waste shredded at the Al Kharj yard
Step 01

Green Waste Collection, Stockpiling & Shredding

Green waste is collected, stockpiled and mechanically shredded to prepare it for composting.

Controlled composting and maturation in windrows
Step 02

Controlled Composting & Maturation

Composting takes place in controlled windrows. Warming, thermophilic, cooling and curing phases support decomposition and a stable, mature final product.

Mesophilic 1

Initial warming stage where microbial activity begins.

25 to 40°C
Thermophilic

High temperature phase that destroys pathogens.

40 to 65°C
Mesophilic 2

Cooling stage where microbial activity stabilizes.

25 to 40°C
Maturation & Curing

Compost stabilizes and becomes ready for use.

Step 03

Mature Compost Screening & Preparation

Mature compost is screened, refined and prepared for agricultural and landscape use.

PLANT & EQUIPMENT AT WORK

A wheel loader moving screened compost at the yard

Compost Loading & Handling

Screened compost is stockpiled, loaded and moved across the yard ready for bagging or bulk despatch.

A windrow turner working the composting rows

Controlled Windrow Turning

Managed turning cycles help aerate the windrows, distribute moisture and support controlled decomposition and maturation.

PLANT PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

Root zone photographs show differences in root development and growing medium structure. Compare the two samples below.

Root ball grown in standard site soil, sparse rooting at the edge
Standard Site SoilRoots reach the edge of the medium thinly, with little fine root development to hold the ball together.
Root ball grown in a Mawared Baladi blended medium, dense fine rooting throughout
Mawared Baladi BlendDense fine roots run right through the medium, so the plant lifts, travels and establishes with far less transplant shock.

COMPOST VS. RAW BIO WASTE

Untreated organic material and finished compost behave very differently once they are in the ground.

Raw Bio WasteUntreated organic material
Mawared Baladi CompostStable, screened, specified
Nitrogen
Drawn out of the soil as it breaks down
Released steadily to the plant
Temperature
Can still heat and scorch young roots
Stable and mature on delivery
Weed Seed & Pathogens
Carried straight into the bed
Destroyed in the thermophilic phase
Odour & Flies
A nuisance on an occupied site
None, the process is finished
Consistency
Varies load to load
Screened to a written specification
